ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUE:

The Perkin-Elmer Elan 5000 ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometer) provides trace analytical analysis with results 10 to 1,000 times lower than current methods. Our exclusive "Qual-Scan" program yields qualitative analysis of 68 elements ranging from 10,000 ppm down to 1 ppm in a single scan.

DESCRIPTION:

The ICP-MS utilizes an argon ICP to generate singly charged atoms which are then directed into a quadruple mass spectrometer. The mass spectrometer's function is to separate the ions according to their mass-to-charge ratio. A detector will then quantitate the number of ions present for each mass.

APPLICATIONS:

Acids, Metal Powders, Waters, Alloys, Steels, Quartz, Powders, Ceramics, Environmental, Semi-Conductor, Organics and any other material where Trace Element Analysis is required.

SAMPLE TYPE REQUIRED:

0.1 gram Typical
0.01 gram Minimum

ANALYTICAL RANGE:

The DC Arc can be used for just about any element on the atomic chart. levels of oxygen and nitrogen.

STANDARDS USED:

NIST, Brammer, Certified Aqueous Standards.

AS QUALITATIVE TEST:

Excellent test due to broad spectrum of materials that can be tested, large number of elements (68) that can be detected in one analysis.

AS QUANTITATIVE TEST:

The degree of sensitivity attainable will vary with the elements sought and the matrix of the sample. Most will be detectable to very low ppb levels for water samples to low ppm for metals and other solid materials.
