Hyprotech, GSE Cross-License Batch Modeling Software

GSE Systemstd. (Calgary, AB) and <%=company%> (Columbia, MD) have signed an agreement to cross-license their batch modeling and processing software. The deal covers GSE's BatchCAD reaction kinetics and reactor modeling software and Hyprotech's recently updated BDK batch processing lifecycle software.

Hyprotech will provide BatchCAD as a part of its integrated batch processing suite. GSE will incorporate BDK into its VirtualPlant software suite. Both companies will continue to market their software to the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries.

BatchCAD. BatchCAD models reaction kinetics and dynamic heat and mass balances of nearly any jacketed, fed, or continuously stirred batch reactor. It also simulates multicomponent distillation with or without simultaneous chemical reactions. Many companies have used it to model reactions and reactors during process development.

VirtualPlant is an integrated process development and operation management concept developed and marketed by GSE Systems.

BDK. BDK helps companies manage work process and information requirements during batch process modeling and development. According to Hyprotech, BDK can reduce development and modeling time and costs by up to 80% by enhancing development productivity and decision-making, as well as improving process robustness.

BDK is a component of Hyprotech's BaSYS batch processing software and services. In addition to BDK and BatchCAD, BaSYS also includes VisiMix (mathematical modeling of laminar and turbulent mixing processes), SPS Process Manuals (comprehensive knowledge bases on separation technologies), and Hyprotech's Process Consultancy (process engineering specialists).

BDK will provide process synthesis and lifecycle information management capabilities to GSE's VirtualPlant offering.

BDK 2000 uses optimized synthesis routes to automatically generate outline flowsheets and batch recipes.
