The company offers a new line of low cost, versatile plug-on PI controllers for Solenoid Continuous Control of level, flow, temperature, or pressure in liquids and gases.
The company offers a new line of low cost, versatile plug-on PI controllers for Solenoid Continuous Control of level, flow, temperature, or pressure in liquids and gases. The controllers, Type 8623-2, 8624-2 and 8625-2, are easily mounted to the company's Type 6022, 6023 or 6223 ¼ in. – 1 in. solenoid valves or any DIN 43 650A-compatible proportional solenoid valve and provide easy ready-to-use, programmable control.

These units also directly accept industry standard signals from process sensors (flow, level, pressure or temperature) to provide complete control loop solutions – using the company's concept of Easy LINK. These new units push decentralized embedded intelligence to new limits for the lowest total cost in control loop automation.

The compact electronic PI controllers are integrated in a polyamide NEMA 4 housing for direct connection to continuous solenoid control valves. The controller consists of a microprocessor–based, self-supporting and programmable unit that mounts directly on the solenoid valve. The unit has an easy-to-read LED analog display and three push buttons for:

  • setting the control parameters
  • configuring the set point
  • monitoring the control valves
  • setting the K factor (flow only)
  • non-inverted/inverted control unit direction
  • heating and cooling (temperature only)
  • elimination of turn-down ratio

Controller set points can also be set locally or remote via the unit's standard 4-20 mA or 0-10V external signal input. The controller then compares the set point to the sensor input reading and automatically adjusts the solenoid valve position to maintain the process set point.

The series has three versatile models: the Type 8623-2 Flow Controller with two frequency inputs for flow sensors, Type 8624-2 Pressure and Level Controller using a standard 4-20mA input signal, and Type 8625-2 Temperature Controller with an RTD (PT 100) sensor input.

The Type 8624-2 Pressure and Level Controller controls the pressure or level of flowing gases and liquids using a standard 4-20 mA input signal from a pressure or level transmitter.

Applications include:

  • Control of pressure in gas burners
  • Pressure control of flowing gases in medical equipment
  • CO2 control in the food industry
  • Water treatment in industrial and municipal systems
  • Control of liquid levels

The Type 8623-2 Flow Controller will control flow and the mixing ratio of two liquids. The unit has two frequency inputs for flow sensors (Types 8025, 8030 and 8035).

Applications include:

  • Control of the supply and temperature of liquids in chemical processes
  • Control of cooling water circuits in machines and plants
  • Control of the mixing ratios of liquids
  • Control of chemical additives in water treatment
  • Moisture control in paper and textile machines
  • Control of fluid flow in batch machines

The Type 8625-2 Temperature Controller will control the mixing temperature of various fluids using an RTD sensor input from a company temperature sensor, type ST20 or ST21.

Applications include:

  • Control of water temperature in showers and tanks
  • Control of cooling water in machines and robots
  • Temperature control of chemical and water treatment systems and medical equipment
  • Temperature controlled supply of gases and liquids
