The Thermalert 3 Plus is an infrared temperature monitoring system that combines a choice of infrared sensors with digital processing electronics

The Thermalert 3 Plus is an infrared temperature monitoring system that combines a choice of infrared sensors with digital processing electronics enclosed in a rugged, surface-mount monitor.

The two-piece system provides rapid process information to the operator while user-selectable milliamp, thermocouple, or relay signals are tied into a closed-loop control system. Simultaneous RS232 output provides data for process auditing or statistical process control.

The monitor can be easily installed next to the process or in the control room, and a large 4-digit display shows temperature; temperature peak hold, valley hold and averaging; and emissivity readings from the sensor on the process line. Advanced signal processing provides two adjustable setpoints and one adjustable deadband for alarming or process correction via dual relays for simple on/off control. The monitor also features reflected ambient temperature compensation and external reset for peak or valley hold.

The monitor works with Raytek's series of regular and laser-sighted IR sensing heads, including models designed with specific spectral responses for accurate measurement of thin film plastics, molten glass, and high temperature metals. The sensing head is installed on the process, and the monitor automatically synchs to the sensor via universal head recognition. Sensing heads can be installed in a ThermoJacket enclosure to withstand harsh environments, and the monitor is rated NEMA 4. The system monitors temperature ranges of 0 to 3000°C (0 to 5400°F).
