Liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions has been awarded a contract by the Aker Solutions and Kvaerner 50/50 joint venture (ASK JV) to deliver MEG (mono ethylene glycol) and chemical injection pump packages to the Johan Sverdrup phase 2 field development.
Under the contract, PG Flow Solutions will supply a total of six pump skids, including pump skids for scale inhibitor injection, drag reducer injection, emulsion breaker and MEG injection. The company will also provide one control valve skid which combines the MEG injections pumps from Phase 1 and 2 allowing high flexibility for the MEG injection system. PG Flow Solutions will also conduct modifications and testing on the MEG injection pump system the company delivered to phase 1 of the field development.
PG Flow Solutions will engineer and manage the project out of its manufacturing site in Sande, Vestfold, Norway. The company has not disclosed the value of the contract.
In November 2015, Equinor (then Statoil) awarded PG Flow Solutions contracts to deliver chemical injection and MEG injection packages to phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup field development.
“Our design is based upon our delivery to phase 1 for similar applications. Layout, documentation, testing and technical requirements will be similar and give as much synergies as possible to facilitate reduction in costs. Furthermore, the majority of our project team that worked on phase 1 are now dedicated for this delivery to phase 2. The Johan Sverdrup development is an excellent example of how operators and supplier can cooperate to drive down field development costs, and we look forward to contributing towards this,” says Mark Tuinman, sales manager Energy at PG Flow Solutions.
All skids and pumps will be supplied to the Johan Sverdrup riser platform, which the Aker Solutions – Kvaerner joint venture is responsible modifying and upgrading in connection with phase 2 of the field development. The majority of PG Flow Solutions’ deliveries will be made in Q3 2019.
“This is an important contract for us. The Johan Sverdrup field development has become an industrial fairytale for the Norwegian supplier industry. We are very pleased to be involved as a subcontractor to Aker Solutions and Kvaerner, and ultimately Equinor,” adds Mark Tuinman.
