Bulletin: Gas Cooling And Conditioning Guide

Spraying Systems Co. offers a 12-page spray technology guide to help optimize efficiency and maximize performance in gas cooling and conditioning applications in the chemical processing industry. The bulletin focuses on spray technology solutions and is available free of charge.

In recent years, evaporative cooling utilizing air atomization has become the preferred solution for gas cooling and conditioning. FloMax® Air Atomizing nozzles, ideal for use in dryers, ductwork, kilns and cooling towers, use a patented three-stage atomization process to produce very small drops for quick, complete evaporation. Small drop sizes allow greater volumes of gas to be cooled without wetting – decreasing maintenance/labor costs and ensuring compliance with emission regulations.

FloMax nozzles are extremely air efficient and feature high flow rates per nozzle. This results in using fewer nozzles for cooling, a lower initial purchase cost and less maintenance. Large free passages reduce clogging and allow flexibility in water sources used. FloMax nozzles are available in a variety of capacities, spray angles and material options.

A second solution addressed in the bulletin is a Gas Conditioning System. This fully automated system is designed around the FloMax air atomizing nozzle. The AutoJet Spray Controller monitors and adjusts all system components – nozzles, pumps, sensors and more – to ensure the highest level of system reactivity and accuracy. If a problem is detected that the controller can't resolve automatically, operator warnings will be displayed or sounded.

A third solution is discussed for gas cooling applications where residence time for complete evaporation is not critical. Spraying Systems Co.'s Flowback hydraulic nozzle system features a simple two-piece design for easy installation/maintenance. Flowback nozzles are often selected to replace competitive nozzles in existing hydraulic systems due to the advantages offered in installation and maintenance.
