Cost-Effective Hydrogen Sulfide Removal

The SULFUR-RITE® process is a cost-effective solution for continuous hydrogen sulfide removal for sulfur removal operations with a maximum H2S load typically less than 500 lbs/day. The process is selective to H2S and light mercaptans and is especially effective where removal of other gas components, such as CO2, is not required.

The SULFUR-RITE® process is a simple addition to any facility and uses a sacrificial media bed arrangement as shown. It does not require expensive ancillary equipment, such as filters, additives or flare gas makeup. There are no moving parts to maintain, no air emissions to control and no liquid stream requiring expensive disposal.

In any application, an easy-to-operate SULFUR-RITE® system requires minimal operator attention and is less costly to install than competing processes. This process has been field-proven in diverse industries on applications with a wide range of flows.

Sweeten Gas Streams and Save

Instead of absorbing H2S, the SULFUR-RITE® system chemically changes H2S into a safe and stable compound: iron pyrite. Sour gas fed into an inlet travels downward through the vessel containing the SULFUR-RITE® media. The H2S reacts with the iron-based media to form iron pyrite. Each batch removes three to five times more H2S than iron sponge systems, resulting in longer media life. In addition, spent media can be sent to any landfill, reducing handling costs.

In a dual vessel, lead/lag configuration mode, two vessels are used, each containing one half of the total media. The vessels operate in series, with one vessel in the lead position, the other in the lag position. With this design, you enjoy 100% media utilization and continuous treatment during media replacement.

The media is non-toxic, non-hazardous, non-pyrophoric, and environmentally safe in both unreacted and reacted forms. The media removes three to five times more hydrogen sulfide than a typical iron sponge system. The system does not produce any toxic or corrosive by-products or side reactions when processing sour gas.
