Sustainability And Innovation In Polyurethanes To Headline At UTECH North America
LONDON & CHARLOTTE, N.C--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Sustainability and innovation in the use of polyurethanes are set to headline at the UTECH North America trade show and conference (http://www.utech-north-america.com/) taking place June 4th-5th 2014 at Charlotte Convention Center, North Carolina, USA.
Many of the world’s leading manufacturers of polyurethane materials and equipment are set to unveil their latest innovations on the trade show floor, while the event’s conference will outline the latest developments in the world of polyurethanes and reveal unique insights into the recovering North American polyurethanes market. Places at the conference have sold out, but visitors can still register for free admittance to the trade show.
Often described as the hidden polymer, polyurethanes are widely used throughout manufacturing and construction industries with everyday applications including automotive, aerospace, furniture and bedding, electrical, footwear, textiles, mining, offshore, pipes, refrigeration and insulation as well as specialist surgical and medical. The US polyurethanes market alone has an output of $19.4 billion, operates in 935 locations and generates 202,000 jobs.
Mark Bassett, Global Vice President, Polyurethanes at The Dow Chemical Company USA will deliver the conference’s opening keynote with a paper entitled: A World of Change, A World of Opportunity, looking at shifting markets, energy dynamics, technology innovation, chemicals regulation and sustainability trends.
Other conference highlights include a whole session focusing on sustainability issues that will examine alternative natural-oil-based polyols, bio-succinium- and CO2-based materials and seek to set out a series of practical steps to foster the wider and faster acceptance of these new approaches.
Among the many international companies with booths at the trade show are Dow Chemical, Wanhua of China, Cannon, Hennecke Inc, DuPont & Tate & Lyle, Evonik, Lanxess, Repi LLC and Honeywell. Manufacturing innovations unveiled at the exhibition will include the latest mixing and dispensing machinery, equipment for reaction injection moulding as well as the cutting equipment needed for making products based on flexible foams, rigid foams and elastomers.
INVISTA is introducing an innovative new polyol, offering low viscosity, recycled content, versatility and value. Branded as TERRIN™ polyols, this family of aliphatic ester polyols is available for samples and commercial use, after a successful first commercial trial.
Piedmont Chemical launches its 100% renewable polyester polyols leveraging renewable chemicals from DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products and Myriant Corporation. These polyols are 100% bio-based and are functionally equal and cost-competitive with petroleum-derived polyols without requiring green-price premiums. The novel polyol formulations, which are made from renewable resources, ultimately enable the production of eco-friendly, sustainable products.
Reverdia will promote Biosuccinium™, its brand of bio-based succinic acid produced using a unique low pH yeast technology. It enables customers to produce bio-based, high-quality performance materials while at the same time improving their environmental footprint.
Saip is showing its high and low pressure foam dispensing machines; continuous and discontinuous production lines for sandwich panels; complete foaming lines for the refrigeration industry and complete lines for furniture industry.
Hennecke Inc will introduce its new Highline metering equipment for two-component high-pressure processing of polyurethane, without any reduction in metering accuracy, adherence to the formulation, or precise compliance with the desired part weights.
