Thermo Electron Unveils The SphiNCX - Its New Multi-Elemental Bench Top Analyzer

Thermo Electron Corporation (NYSE:TMO) introduces its multi-elemental bench top SphiNCX analyzer for fast, reliable and sensitive analysis of Total Sulfur (TS), Total Nitrogen (TN), Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Total Organic Halogens (AOX/TX). The four-in-one configuration of the SphiNCX offers a total solution for research and development laboratories, environmental laboratories and QC laboratories in the petrochemical, plastics and high-grade chemical industries.

The SphiNCX offers high and low measuring ranges in a wide variety of sample types, and is ideal for controlling ultra low levels of Sulfur preventing contamination in fuel cells. This analyzer is able to control industrial processes by offering the best detection capabilities for sulfur and nitrogen analysis in refineries. The SphiNCX is the ideal instrument for quality control of ground water, wastewater, sludge and drinking water and monitoring of nitrogen, carbon and halogens.

The SphiNCX incorporates and is compatible with the multifunctional NeXYZ auto sampler, the first of its kind for solids, small volume hydrocarbons, large volume water samples and headspace analysis. Its exchangeable sample tray and pick up heads ensure flexible, fast and easy sample introduction. The NeXYZ works around the clock, guarantees higher throughput and results in low cost analysis.

The flexible design of the SphiNCX makes it easy to switch rapidly between Nitrogen, Sulfur, Chlorine and Carbon analyses, whilst both bench space and investment costs are significantly reduced. The robust dual temperature furnace guarantees at least 5 years lifetime and prevents overheating. The turbo quartz tube enables optimum combustion of all solid, liquid, gas and highly viscous samples. The SphiNCX meets EPA, ASTM, ISO, DIN and CEN standards and is suitable for inter-laboratory studies.
