Rheology: Determining The Yield Point For Quality Control Of Coatings

Source: Anton Paar USA

For quality control of the flow behavior of paints and coatings, it is important to find a method that provides a comparative value quickly and accurately; the yield point suits this purpose well. The yield point describes the force needed for a material to start flowing. This value can be determined by using a flow curve followed by curve regression analysis. Based on the yield point, various samples can be clearly distinguished from each other. This application report provides insight into determining the yield points of coatings for quality control based on measurements with the Anton Paar Rotational MCR 72.
