Oil Refining Company Experiences Success With TabWare CMMS

Greenville, SC (PRWEB) - AssetPoint, a leading provider of Computerized Maintenance Management Software / Enterprise Asset Management (CMMS / EAM) solutions for the Oil & Gas industry, announced that Continental Refining Company (CRC) has achieved a successful roll-out of TabWare CMMS for its crude oil refinery located in Somerset, KY.

CRC is the only crude oil refinery in southern Kentucky and proudly provides small and medium oil producers and gatherers with transportation savings, favorable crude oil rates and rapid payments that surpass petroleum company standard practices. Following a thorough company overhaul in 2012, the 80-year-old plant is now processing crude oil and producing high-quality finished fuel products. At full capacity, the Somerset refinery can produce 23 million gallons of gasoline, 6 million gallons of kerosene, 21 million gallons of diesel fuel and 30 million gallons of heating oils within one year.

CRC began the initial TabWare implementation in January 2013, and within 6 months they were tracking work orders and equipment history. Next, CRC rolled-out TabWare for spare parts inventory and purchasing management, and now they are using the complete TabWare functionality, including purchase order receiving and invoice matching. So far, CRC has defined their equipment parent-child hierarchy for 1,400 equipment items, and the refinery depends heavily on TabWare for tracking process safety documents linked to specific equipment items and any associated work orders. In addition to utilizing the solution to help manage refinery assets and maintenance operations, TabWare help CRC track major capital projects, as well. TabWare also generates preventive maintenance work orders to maintain pipeline assets, such as valves and fittings, and the PM scheduling module is heavily utilized to schedule and track environmental compliance inspections.

Due to deep domain experience, AssetPoint understands the asset maintenance challenges facing the Oil & Gas industry. Customers in the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Oil & Gas sectors choose TabWare because of its ability to effectively manage their preventive maintenance program, track movable assets, capture maintenance history and costs and support their Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) programs. TabWare’s demonstrated ease-of-use for field technicians allows rapid user adoption without disrupting day-to-day operations. The Oil & Gas industry is dependent on the success of their assets, and TabWare’s preventative maintenance capability is the first line of defense against unplanned downtime and equipment failures, resulting in an increase of the number of operating days in the field and average revenue per day.

Keith Thacker, CMMS Administrator for the refinery, stated, “We originally selected TabWare because of its ease-of-use and proven experience with Oil & Gas customers. Now that we have the basic functionality implemented, we are uncovering more and more ways that TabWare will help manage all of our operations. Not only are we very pleased with how configurable the solution is to our specific needs, but the customer service has been great.”

Brad Smith, AssetPoint’s Director of Oil & Gas Global Accounts, said “CRC initially took a crawl, walk, run approach to the implementation of TabWare, and thanks to immediate efficiency and reliability improvements, they are now fully utilizing the solution across the organization. We are very excited about CRC’s success with TabWare and look forward to a long partnership with the refinery as they continue to implement additional products and functionality that we are making available for our customers.”
