(PRWEB) MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, today announced that the Level Plus® Model MR and MC420 liquid level transmitters have received approval for use in hazardous applications where there are explosive materials. This approval is granted by the National Supervision and Inspection Centre for Explosion Protection and Safety of Instrumentation (NEPSI) in the People’s Republic of China.

“This certification allows us to offer greater product diversity into the Chinese marketplace,” explained Lee Aiken, Product Marketing Manager for MTS Sensors Liquid Level Products. “We will be expanding the products we offer in that region and working with customers to help them choose the sensors that best fit their applications.”

The Level Plus® Model MR level transmitters utilize magnetostrictive technology to provide a three-in-one measurement tool for product level, interface level and temperature measurement. The 4 to 20 mA current output, including HART, can be used across many applications in the liquid level marketplace, including petrochemical, LPG terminals, biotech and pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and water/wastewater applications.

The Level Plus® Model MC420 is designed specifically for applications in hazardous areas. It also provides a single-channel analog 4 to 20 mA output for either a product level or interface level measurement, depending on the application and the selected float. In addition to now being NEPSI certified, the product is approved by FM, CSA and ATEX standards in other geographies for intrinsically safe applications. It is available in lengths from 18 inches (457 mm) to 216 inches (5486 mm). The electronics are enclosed in a NEMA Type 4X rated housing made of 316L stainless steel.
