General Cable Introduces Specialty Communications Cables For Extreme Hazardous Locations In Arctic Climates

Highland Heights, KY - General Cable has introduced CCW Arctic Armor Specialty Communications Cables with the reliability and operational excellence required for extreme conditions in subzero hazardous locations. Manufactured using precision-engineered, state-of-the-art equipment, these Continuously Corrugated Welded Cables pass the ASTM D746-04 brittleness temperature impact test at -60ºC and are UL approved to either MC-HL or ITC-HL listings.

General Cable’s CCW Arctic Armor Fieldbus, PROFIBUS and Category 5e Ethernet cables are flame retardant and moisture- and sunlight-resistant for use in indoor and outdoor, wet or dry, raceway, cable tray, aerial or direct buried environments. Recognized for use in Class I, II and III, Divisions 1 and 2, or Class 1, Zone 1 and 2 hazardous locations per National Electric Code (NEC) Articles 501, 502, 503 and 505, CCW Arctic Armor cables comply with industry standards for the latest high-speed industrial automation communications and control applications.

“Responding to the growing demand for increased data transmission at higher speeds in today’s industrial PROFIBUS, Fieldbus and Ethernet networks, General Cable’s CCW arctic armor communications cables combine our continuously corrugated welded armor for the most performance-demanding environments with our open architecture know-how for signal integrity across a wide range of devices and protocols,” said Steve Stanford, Vice President, Specialty Sales, General Cable North America. “Providing market-focused open-architecture network infrastructure solutions allows General Cable to participate more broadly in the oil, gas and petrochemical (OGP) market and support evolving industrial networking communications needs.”

General Cable manufactures a wide range of high performance CCW cable constructions ranging from 300 V UL Type ITC-HL/PLTC and 600 V UL Type MC-HL, to 35 kV UL Type MC-HL or MV-105. CCW arctic armor specialty communications cables continue to round out General Cable’s broad portfolio of OGP cable solutions for use in hazardous locations.
