New Option Gives Steel Drum Users Access to Safety Benefits of DrumQuik PRO
St. Paul, MN - Colder Products Company announced the addition of an ISO G2 x 11.5 (2-inch NPS) thread option to the company's popular DrumQuik PRO, a quick connect, dip-tube closure for jerry cans, drums and IBC's. The new option was introduced at the Interpack Processes and Packaging trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, April 24, 2008.
"In response to demand from chemical packagers and their customers who have been using the DrumQuik PRO with plastic drums, we have expanded our product line to provide the same benefits to the millions of steel drum users," said Thomas Braun, business unit manager, Chemical Handling, Colder Products Company. "We're offering organizations that use steel drums, in fields from food packaging to chemical manufacturing, the chance to dramatically reduce waste, save money and improve safety."
Approximately 50 percent of the millions of drums and IBC's in circulation are steel and require ISO G2 x 11.5 (2-inch NPS) thread connections. Colder's product extension offers a significant increase in flexibility for its customers with these drums. In addition, the new ISO G2 x 11.5 (2-inch NPS) thread will give steel drum users access to the safety benefits of the DrumQuik PRO system.
The DrumQuik PRO minimizes chemical exposure and facilitates the delivery of liquids from bulk transfer containers to end-use applications. The coupler is reusable and the dip-tube closure is suited to cost-sensitive, single-use container applications, and can be disposed of or recycled with the container.
The DrumQuik PRO chemical dispensing system has been DOT/UN-tested and approved with common drums and IBC's. The DrumQuik PRO coupler can be connected via standard tubing to any appropriate pumping system. A convenient venting port is included to contain fumes, apply a N2 or CO2 blanket gas, or recirculate liquid back to the drum.
The drum insert assembly combines a typical bung closure (2-inch buttress, BCS 56 x 4 and now ISO G2 x 11.5) with an integrated dip tube that is available in a variety of lengths. The coupler is joined to the drum insert via an easy-to-use locking ring. Connection takes only a few seconds and an automatic shut-off valve prevents spillage when disconnected.
