Siemens new AquaCarb® 1240CAT was developed for specific applications requiring a catalytic reaction to remove the target contaminant. Applications include chloramine, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) removal from water.

As a coconut shell based carbon, AquaCarb® 1240CAT offers advantages such higher activity (iodine number), higher VOC adsorption capacity, lower ash, and higher hardness/abrasion resistance, while adding catalytic functionality. Performance testing to date has shown a longer effective life as compared to the competitive alternatives, resulting in reduced replacement frequencies and lower overall life cycle costs.

Applications include semiconductor wastewater or groundwater remediation systems with UV oxidation (H2O2 removal), municipal drinking water treatment (H2S and chloramine removal), and process water treatment in the bottling industry (chloramine removal).

Features and Benefits

  • Fully conforms to physical, performance and leachability requirements established by the current ANSI/AWWA B604 (which includes the Food Chemical Codex requirements)
  • Retains extensive micropore structure for effective VOC removal
  • Retains physical characteristics of coconut shell based carbons (low ash, high hardness)
  • A detailed quality assurance program guarantees consistent quality from lot to lot and shipment to shipment
