Tovatech LLC Announces The Elmasonic S Ultrasonic Cleaning Unit For The Laboratory
November 7, 2006
The Elmasonic S ultrasonic cleaner has unprecedented versatility with three with different ultrasonic modes for cleaning, degassing, and mixing or dispersing samples
South Orange, NJ - Tovatech LLC announced the Elmasonic S ultrasonic cleaner line, a new product line designed for the scientific laboratory. The Elmasonic S is the only bench top ultrasonic cleaner capable of operating in three ultrasonic modes, each optimized for a different laboratory operation. The Elmasonic S easily switches between Normal, Sweep, and Degas modes, for mixing, cleaning, and degassing, respectively.
Ultrasonic cleaners operate by producing tiny vacuum filled bubbles which implode releasing high energy in a process known as cavitation. Normal mode ultrasonics produces a stabilized frequency, forcing the liquid to circulate and mix. Mixing, dispersing, emulsifying, and dissolving samples is most efficiently accomplished in Normal mode. In Sweep mode, the frequency is shifted continuously to ensure that cavitation occurs uniformly throughout the tank. Cleaning glass, metal, or plastic surfaces is most thoroughly achieved in Sweep mode. Entrained air can be removed from the cleaning liquid in Degas mode. Freshly mixed cleaning liquid does not clean efficiently until fully degassed, as dissolved gas suppresses cavitation.
Many laboratories use ultrasonic cleaners for all three tasks: sample preparation, equipment cleaning, and liquid degassing. Scientists are often unaware that different ultrasonic modes can be used to shorten the time and increase the efficiency of these operations. The Elmasonic S relies on a microprocessor-controlled generator and advanced ceramic transducers to produce all three modes. The simple and elegant design of the control panel makes it easy for the scientist to select between modes.
The Elmasonic S is also the only ultrasonic cleaner that continuously displays the set temperature, actual temperature, set time, and time remaining. Other ultrasonic cleaners available today must be manually switched between displays to show all this information.
Two automated modes have been added to the Elmasonic S to provide controlled reproducible ultrasonic processes. Auto/Start initiates the ultrasonics when the liquid in the bath reaches the set temperature. Autodegas runs Degas mode for 10 minutes before switching to Sweep mode for cleaning.
Elmasonic S ultrasonic cleaners are available in 13 different sizes, from 0.5 liter to 90 liters. Numerous practical and well-designed accessories are available for all sizes. Accessories include a cooling coil to maintain a low bath temperature when needed for sensitive samples, holder baskets with coated handles to minimize noise, and various supports for flasks and beakers.
