Anton Paar Presents The Newest Generation Of Laboratory Density Meters: Generation M
April 2, 2008
In 2007, Anton Paar celebrated the 40th anniversary of introducing the world's first digital density meter based on the oscillating U-tube principle. Now, one year later, Anton Paar presents the newest generation of laboratory density meters: Generation M.
Anton Paar density meters always were the benchmark. Now Anton Paar is again innovating the world of digital density measurement - their new Generation M density meters provide unparalleled benefits in reliabil-ity, efficiency and comfort:
The new FillingCheck function (patent application filed) automatically recognizes and records filling er-rors and gas bubbles in the sample in the oscillating U-tube sensor. It alerts the operator of potential meas-urement errors and optionally documents them with pictures in the data memory.
The U-View feature displays a live stream of images of the oscillating U-tube sensor with the filled-in sample. The entire sample is fully, clearly visible. Potential sample filling problems can be reliably identified in real-time or at a later review of the pictures automatically stored in the data memory. This is especially important for verification of results when using automatic sampling systems.
The ThermoBalance principle compensates for measurement drifts caused by temperature stress ap-plied to the oscillating U-tube sensor. This problem occurs after a major change to the measuring tempera-ture or if a sample is filled at a temperature which greatly differs from the measuring temperature. The Ther-moBalance principle makes the Generation M density meters the only instruments to fully eliminate such problems. It additionally allows accurate and convenient density measurements in a wide temperature range.
What else is new with Generation M? The instruments now automatically determine the local air density during adjustments. The user interface has a new design: A large, easy-to-read color display with touch-screen function simplifies routine operations. For harsh environments, additional function keys are provided so that the display does not need to be touched and stays clean. A keyboard, mouse and bar code reader can be connected for convenient operation. Four USB, two RS-232 interfaces and an Ethernet interface al-low universal data transfer as well as secure operation for GMP, cGLP and 21-CFR-part-11 applications. PC monitors of any size can be connected so that the measuring results are legible even from large distances. Space-saving plug-in sample changers manage sample viscosities of up to 35,000 mPa.s.
The available models DMA 4100 M, DMA 4500 M and DMA 5000 M provide accuracies of 0.0001 g/cm³, 0.00005 g/cm³ and 0.000005 g/cm³. Their applications range from the measurement of petroleum, petroleum products and alternative fuels over the analysis of chemicals, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, per-fumes and flavors, beverages and spirits to application in research & development as well as in national and international calibration authorities and testing agencies.
