Hard lumps are a natural by-product of the chemical reactions used to make Adipic Acid, and these lumps often plug up pumps and cause problems with other downstream process equipment. A Texas chemical manufacturer installed a Model 6FS-04 Flow-Sentry in two of their process streams to continuously break up the lumps, thus eliminating the pump clogs and protecting the downstream equipment. The Model 6FS-04 Flow Sentries are installed in two 6" diameter pipelines. Each processes a flow-rate of 700 gpm (25,000 pounds per hour) of Adipic Acid at a line pressure of 100 psi and a temperature of 350 degrees F.
